aim trojanAIM-Flood Trojanis a Trojan programmed to steal password information for AOL Instant Chat clients. AIM Trojan requires VB40032.DLL in order to perform its malicious actions. In testing, this Trojan modified the WIN.INI file to run the file: c:\windows\system\system.exe This file was not created and does not exist by default. This Trojan is either poorly coded or is part of a two-file Trojan set. If the AIM-Flood Trojan is run, it modifies the WIN.INI to load the file SYSTEM.EXE from the System folder, yet this file does not exist by default and the Trojan did not copy itself as that file name to the System folder. A Trojan horse program is a malicious program that pretends to be a benign application; a Trojan horse program purposefully does something the user does not expect. Trojans are not viruses since they do not replicate, but Trojan horse programs can be just as destructive. Many people use the term to refer only to non-replicating malicious programs, thus making a distinction between Trojans and viruses. |
