What is shimgapi.dll
shimgapi.dll (known as W32/Shimg ) is a file that several computer viruses (worms) drop into your Microsoft Windows operating system. This file is loaded when the users starts the Explorer software.
MyDoom , Novarg.A and Bagle virures run a backdoor component, which it drops as the file SHIMGAPI.DLL. This trojan component opens TCP ports 3127 thru 3198 to allow remote users to access and manipulate infected systems. The backdoor routine has the ability to download and execute arbitrary files.
These virus worms also install a file called taskmon.exe in the startup.
